Red Red Wine

Neil Diamond said it best,

"Red, red wine, Go to my head
Make me forget that I
Still need her so"

Red wine does have a habit of getting into one's mind and making them forget, or just making their face blush and want to tell all their secrets.

P.S if you think that's a Bob Marley's song you are banned from this blog...just leave.

Red wine is God's greatest gift to humans. It is adult juice that makes gatherings of people much more bearable.

It is also a bomb gift to literally anyone. Housewarming gift? Yup! Birthday present? Uh-huh! New Baby? Get that mama some wine!

So, what kind of wine is best? Don't they all taste the same? The answer is no.

Do they all give us epic wine mouth and turn our pearly whites red? Yup.

Drum-roll for the briefest run down of red wine ever.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon – Full-bodied with herbal notes. Dense, purple-black, jammy and tasting of currants and black cherries. Thick and ripe, layered with expensive new oak scents and flavors. Always a solid choice to bring to dinner cause it pairs so well with literally everything
  • Cabernet Franc -  More tannic, earthy cousin to Cabernet Sauvignon. Remembered for its pure notes of violets and blueberry, and its ripe tannins often carry the scent of fresh roasted coffee.  I personally like how smooth this tastes in comparison to Cab Sauv. Goes down really well with a bag of chips.
  • Malbec- One of the blending grapes of Bordeaux, Malbec is a spicy, tart red wine that takes well to aging in new oak barrels. Flavors of sour cherry and spice are most notable with these wines.
  • Merlot – Fruity, spicy. Very soft, less tannic than Cabernet Sauvignon. It is the Chardonnay of reds, easy to pronounce, easy to like, agreeable, and versatile.
  • Pinot noir – Delicate and fresh, very soft tannins with fruity aromas. Super light-bodied wine that doesn't carry as harsh a taste or lasting finish was Cab Sauv.
  • Zinfandel – Typically zesty, ranges from medium- to full-bodied and dry to off-dry.
